Overview
The Page template (page.json) is the default
layout for static pages. It typically includes a main page
section for the page title and rich text content. You can add more sections
(hero, image with text, FAQs, contact form, testimonials) via the Theme
Customizer to create custom page layouts-About, Contact, FAQ, or any content
page.

How to Customize
- Go to Customize > Use template dropdown or navigate to a page.
- Add sections (Rich Text Pro, Contact us, Image with text, FAQs, Gallery, etc.).
- Configure section settings.
- Save.
Assigning to Pages
Pages > Edit page >
Theme template > Select template (e.g. page,
page.about, page.contact).
For Merchants
- Use custom page templates (About, Contact, FAQ, Full width) for different layouts.
- Assign templates per page in Admin-no code required.
- Combine sections to build campaign pages, policy pages, or informational content.
Page (Default) Template – FAQs
The Page (Default) Template is the standard layout used for regular content pages in your store. It is flexible and can be used for policies, text pages, guides, or custom content.
Use it when you need a simple content page without special layouts. Examples include Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, Shipping Policy, or informational guides.
Yes. You can add images, videos, headings, lists, and formatted text using the Shopify page editor.
Yes. The template automatically adjusts to mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes.
Yes. You can modify the template structure in the theme editor or create a new custom page template if you need a different layout.
The template itself does not control SEO, but the content you add does. Clear headings, useful text, and keywords can improve search rankings.
Yes. Each page in Shopify can use a different template if needed. The default template is simply the standard option.
