Overview
An Instagram section on your homepage showcases your brand and builds trust. This guide explains how to display Instagram photos using apps or theme blocks. It is written for merchants, prospective merchants, and reviewers. Your Instagram account must be public for most solutions to work.
How can I display Instagram photos on my site?
To show your Instagram feed, install an app like Instagram Feed by Snapsoft or add an Instagram widget in the theme customization. Ensure your Instagram account is set to public for it to work.
Method 1: Instagram feed app
- Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "Instagram feed" or "Instagram".
- Install an app (e.g. Instagram Feed by Snapsoft, EmbedSocial, Elfsight Instagram Feed).
- Connect your Instagram account:
- Follow the app's OAuth or connection steps.
- Some apps use your Instagram username; others require API access.
- Add the app's section in Theme Customizer:
- Go to Customize > Homepage (or desired page).
- Click Add section.
- Select the app's section (e.g. "Instagram Feed").
- Configure layout, number of posts, spacing, and styling.
- Save.
Method 2: Theme-built Instagram section
Some themes include a built-in Instagram section:
- Go to Customize > Homepage.
- Click Add section.
- Look for Instagram or Social feed.
- Add the section.
- Enter your Instagram username or connect via the section settings.
- Configure number of images, layout, and link behavior.
- Save.
Method 3: Embed (manual)
- Use a service (e.g. EmbedSocial, Curator.io) to generate an embed code.
- Add an Custom HTML or Custom Liquid section in the Theme Customizer.
- Paste the embed code.
- Save.
For merchants
- Public account: Instagram feeds typically require a public account.
- API changes: Instagram has restricted API access; many solutions use third-party services.
- Apps: Easiest option; handle connection and display.
For reviewers
- Theme may include a built-in Instagram section.
- If not built-in, merchants need an app or embed.
- Documentation should state whether the theme has native Instagram support.
